How does an additive work?
The biofilm is made up of colonies of microorganism which penetrate the plastic, while other ingredients expand the molecular structure making room for microbes. These microbes then send out chemical signals attracting other microbes.
Collectively, they then feast on the polymer chains, braking down the chemical bonds. Pretty amazing right? Our ASTM D5511 tested additive accelerates biodegradation! This is the future of sustainable packaging.
